The area betwen the barracks across from [?]. The 2 windows paired together are one room. Just on each side of the windows would be the beds. There is a desk positioned between the windows. Note the air conditioners. Where else do they have air conditioned barracks in a war zone? The small windows in the middle [cuts off]

Crafty folks
Birdhouse builder, others to share talents Friday
by SUSAN ROBBINS
Staff Writer
Drive by any craft mall or visit a craft store and it doesn't take long to realize just how popular crafting has become. From sewing projects to woodworking, being creative is a crafty way to have fun.
Don Tramel, of Tolar, has been creating decaorative birdhouses since his retirement in 1991. He has made birdhouses in all sizes and shapes, for decoration and for use outside. He has made birdhouses resembling a French chalet, a log cabin, a church and a schoolhouse. Some measure a few inches in height and one is about 4 feet tall.
"I rarely sell anything. I like to work just when I want to," says Tramel, retired from the Air Force and a former Tolar city council-man. He laughs, "Usually if I make one birdhouse, I make four -- one for my wife, my two daughters and my daughter-in-law."
Tramel, Debbie Johnson and Carol Leatherman are presenters
Christmas was always a big event. As far back as I can remember, Don and Billie would have their kids and grandkids out for Christmas every year. This was a days-long event for us, we would stay at their house during this time (with a side trip to my Dad's parents). The kitchen and living rooms would have Christmas decorations everywhere. Sometime before Christmas Day would be a big shopping trip to the Galleria Mall in Dallas. On Christmas morning we would open presents. Don and Paul would hand out presents, discarded boxes and wrapping paper would cover the room. Nanny would tell us not to play with the nut crackers. Later Christmas day we would visit Billie's family, usually out at Aunt Pat and Uncle Bobby's house.

Don would always be joking about something. He really enjoyed the Christmas white elephant gift exchange. I discussed this with some relatives, and I don't think this was his gift, but this was one he was particularly pleased with.
